William Wallace

With 15 years in the property industry, William joined the Savills Christchurch team in 2016, and is now the General Manager of New Zealand.

William Wallace joined Savills in 2016 following seven years at one of South Africa's largest privately-owned property developers. The property developer has developed and now owns some of the largest and most successful mixed-use developments in South Africa, including the award-winning 450,000m2 Melrose Arch precinct in Johannesburg. As National Sales Director, William was responsible for overseeing the leasing and sales of the entire development, including 100 separate retail units making up 36,000m2 of retail space, which is now home to many of the top retailers in South Africa and globally. Along with negotiating all the retail leases, William also negotiated all the facilities management and property management arrangements for the entire precinct.

He also handled sales, leasing, acquisition and property management for several other major mixed-use precincts around Cape Town, including the 46,000m2 Yacht Club development and the 200,000m2 Harbours Arch precinct.

This experience has equipped William with an end-to-end knowledge of retail property, including an ability to provide in-depth analysis of each property’s constituent parts in order to identify where the value lies, and highlighting that value to the buyer market. He is also experienced in advising on how landlords can take action to best prepare a retail property for sale, in order to capture maximum value from a transaction.

William is based in  Auckland in the role of General Manager – New Zealand, tasked with overseeing the existing Auckland and Christchurch businesses and growing the company’s core service lines.
